Wowza/AWS or FMS/AWS - just AWS
for Video on Demand not Live Streaming.

there is a void in the ability to gain unbiased and useful info due to some AWS services involving third parties. contacting the third parties I get feedback in favor of their technology with AWS whereas contacting another third party i get the same = hard to determine what i need. or, moreover, if I even need the third parties at all (I would prefer to NOT use third parties if possible)

in this case the question is can i continue to use amazon s3/cf - ONLY, or do I need to use Wowza/AWS or FMS/AWS. and then, if I need to use Wowza or FMS do I need EC2 for each one?

what i need: encryption and expiring urls for Video on Demand to web and mobile (iOS).

again, can i continue to use ONLY amazon s3/cf?

I am already able to stream:

http://obscurelytitled.com/wp/

....the top video is public and the bottom is private - both coming from amazon.

i set this up using cloudberry and a WordPress plugin.

there is amazon s3/cf passwords and codes input to the plugin in WordPress, that allows encryption and timed urls but apparently on apple iOS the plugin only allows download method meaning its not protected.

the developer said: "the video being streamed is encrypted regardless,we sign it the URL to overcome a cloudfront limitation because it doesn't force rtmpe, you can just get rid of the 'e' and download it through a normal download manager. and without an expiring URL one can just fire up rtmpdump and download the stream."
