HTML5 video transcoder with Watch-folders
Hi guys,

I'm working on the HTML5 strategy at the moment and am trying to source a new transcoder that has the capacity to output the required formats. The transcoder needs watch folder capability, will work well on multiple cores, encoding a single HQ mov, mp4, or whatever to: vp6 (flv), h264 (flv & mp4), webm (vp8) and Ogg (theora).

I've looked at the normal suspects, but they don’t support them. (Carbon for instance).
I'm also looking at Libav/ffmpeg but can't program for Linux so would also need a watch-folder system too.

Any pointers appreciated!

Kind Regards
Paul

Who do you consider usual suspects?

FlipFactory would work for all but Ogg Theora. None of the commercial vendors can support Ogg Theora because of the licensing. http://www.telestream.net/flipfactory/overview.htm

Users who require Ogg or VP6 would be a mighty small percentage at this point, right? WebM and H.264 should cover somewhere in the high 90%s.
