I am using Boilsoft video joiner for Mac. It supports direct joining mode. You can google some other MP4 joiner for Mac instead.

I realize I'm late to the game with an answer, but...

iMovie is an easy way to join videos. For a little holiday production, you can use one of the canned templates that will automate transitions and add all sorts of slick and cute.

QuickTime 7 allowed simple concatenation of videos, as long as you're happy with the .mov format. Just open two movies in QuickTime 7. Select all (Command-A) and copy (Command-C) one movie, place the little indicator in the other movie where you want it to go (e.g. the start or the end), paste, and save the result. QT7 is free, but upgrading to Pro costs $30 if you want to export in different formats.
