youtube-like enterprise video portal
Hi all,

I am searching for a youtube-like enterprise video portal which runs under Windows and is not a hosted / saas solution. So far I have found several products like osTube or phpMotion which meet my requirements but are *unix-based.
Does anybody can point me to a list of applications or something like that? Perhaps tell me which solutions you are using? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,
Marcus

RE: youtube-like enterprise video portal
Well, firstlly youtube's method is: allow user to upload their videos with any formats. Then youtube will convert the uploaded video to FLV format (the recentlly popular HD videos are H.264 or F4V format). At last play the converted video with a web FLV player.

So, if you want to build a youtube kind site, you will need an online convert software. I will suggest you to try Moyea Flash Video MX SDK, it allows you to online convert the uploaded video to FLV format. And what you need to do is play the converted video with a web player. And it can run under windows, no matter 32 bit or 64 bit.

Hope will help, you can find it by search it name or visit the second link in my signature.

Thanks for the replys!

@Dave
Looks nice, but we want to host the content on our own servers

I want a software suite like youtube, with the whole social community stuff, just like for example osTube. With Moyea Flash Video MX SDK I would have to build the portal from scratch, which isn´t exactly what we planned

Stumbled over kaltura but unfortunately it has some issues with the installer. Anyone with another tip?

Excuse me, but why you have to build the portal from scratch with SDK?

Here is a site which I think used this software: http://www.netromsoftware.ro/Telecom-Online-Publishing-Media

Maybe you can have a look.

RE: youtube-like enterprise video portal
there are a number of companies that specialize in bringing the Youtube experience behind the firewall and even offer hyrid models. The company that comes to mind immediately is Qumu.

RE: youtube-like enterprise video portal
I am having the same trouble. I have an internal CDN and users want to have a repository of videos that has searchable metadata, and is organized. I agree that you do not want users to have the ability to post what ever they want. I have a distributed architecture over several countries. Our IT is based in the U.S.
What type of hardware are you using to distribute your video, and what did you choose as a solution?

Marcus, you may want to try dolphin script from boonex. I guess that might be the one you're looking for. It supports Windows and Linux both.
