Delay Live Video
Hi all,

I am looking for a delay solution for a live internet broadcast. Currently we use a dvr that we pause for a minute. The problem with that is that we want to switch to an encoder that accepts only embedded sdi and the dvr doesn't support it. The purpose of the delay is so that we can monitor what is being said by the speaker.

TIA

Hello:
I don't see why you want to delay the streaming while you cannot replace the parts that you may not like. I mean even if you monitor what is being said by the speaker you cannot cut that part .And it will not be live anymore.

Actually if it is delayed I can see it happen before it goes to the stream. If I see something that needs to be cut I change the streaming source to a jpeg. Then when that part is over I can change the source back to the video and voila it has been cut. We have already been doing this with a dvr for a sd feed. All you have to do is pause the dvr for 1 minute and the video it plays back is delayed. The problem I am having now is that there are no HD dvrs that support embedded sdi. If I can find a solution like that then my problem is solved.

Alternatively, I can use a software solution that processes the video and adds delay before it reaches the encoder software. I have been unable to find such a solution through google. If someone knows about an application like that please let me know.

Thanks

RE: Delay Live Video
Hello

Think about this: you are live and want to cut something from the stream. How will your users react to this change (when you change from normal broadcasting to a jpeg). They will think, well this is not very professional. And why you want so much to control what is happening? I mean if it's live leave it live. If you will do this from a broadcasting platform for example , you will be able to stream HD without a problem.

RE: Delay Live Video
Dudes...here is your solution...I've used it for many events...and if you need to "dump" video and audio in real time it's easier by just adding a simple A/B switcher.

Hello:

I also found this discussion: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=37903 It may help you. If you need more information about encoding you check this also: http://www.thehdstandard.com. You can find there information about a few alternatives for encoding video files before publishing and other related subjects.
