Full Version: Searching for WMS live broadcasting solution with time shift option

We are searching for a live streaming solution that allows the user to watch a live stream and when he wants to pause or rewind back to an earlier position to watch the stream again while the live broadcast is still going on. Pretty much the same functionality that current media center solutions provide (DVR) - timeshift recording.
I read about FMS 3.5 (and Wowza) capability to do so - but actually we are searching for a Windows Media solution. Does anybody know of a solution for Windows Media Services? I don´t know if it is possible to publish the server side archive of a livestream while its being written (I think the index is missing for custom positioning... not sure).

If there is no WMS solution: how complex is this feature to use within FMS?

Thanks for any hint....

Sascha
I know, it's possible, because I've seen it. You could watch the WM live stream and pause or jump back in the stream and watch a part again. You could't jump to the beginning of the stream though, but just rewatch the part of the stream, since you started watching the live stream.

I've seen it at the last years UN Climate Chancge Conference Webcast.

Perhaps you ask the guys, how they did it, and if they tell you, tell us here :-)

Kind regards

Björn

We have this ready-to-use solution for Windows Media Services. What's your stream type? What codec do you use?
I m also looking forward to this solution, i am using windows media 9 series. please help me out finding the solution.
I know a solution which is being used for Live HD broadcasting. If you want to record also that will be a complex application and I believe it will be more expensive. You can check BlinkoTV or TikiLIVE
